Firm Foundations for Learning – A Neurodevelopmental Program
The purpose of this program is to address any irregularities in how the brain receives information from the body and the senses. The initial program runs over a period of six months.
We gather information using intake forms, interview of client (and family), taking the client through tasks in a structured assessment when possible, and learning about the client from short videos provided by the family.
The information gathered allows us to understand and explain why some things may be challenging. We share our understanding with the client and the supporting people (e.g., parents, caregivers) and provide a report.
We design an action plan: a short program of exercises to do at home on a daily basis. With young children these tend to be playful! The length of the daily home program is adapted to what the client (and family) are comfortable taking on. activities.
We modify the program in follow-up sessions, as needed.
Altogether, we meet the client 8 times over a period of 6 months. Families who wish to extend the program can arrange for more sessions for a fee.
