A happy peaceful classroom must manage conflicting neurodevelopmental needs effectively

It is sometimes hard to cater for different children’s needs in the same class. Neurodevelopmental is often an overlooked difference when designing inclusive classrooms. Some learners like to move, some need stillness. Some need silence, and others need to talk. Any mismatch between the environment and learner’s needs can result in difficult or challenging behaviour.

It also impacts on their ability to learn efficiently.

This Inclusive Classroom Course is an introduction to a more neurodevelopmentally aware approach. It introduces educators to some tools, strategies, and knowledge needed to recognise different neurodevelopmental needs and create learning environments that accommodate diverse student needs.

A presentation and discussion with two very experienced teachers, Margo Fourman and Tariesa Gildenhuys.
